Either on the first load of the Scan App or after the software requires an update, you will be prompted to download the KnowledgeLake Desktop Client to use the Scan App.
Installing the Desktop Utility
- From the KnowledgeLake Home Page, click Scan.
- The Scan App will check whether the Desktop Client is installed or needs an update. If it determines you need to install the utility, you will be prompted. Click Download Desktop Client.
- After downloading the Desktop Client Installer, make sure the file is not blocked by your machine.
- Locate the file and right-click it
- Select Properties from the pop-out menu
- Make sure the box next to "Unblock" is checked (if it exists)
- It is also worthwhile to make sure the box next to "Hidden" is not checked.
- After ensuring the file is not blocked or hidden, run the downloaded KnolwedgeLakeDesktopApplication.exe file.
- Choose a folder where your scanned images will be temporarily stored while you are working with them. This defaults to your Pictures folder.
- On the Install the Desktop Client page, choose an install path and click Install.
- Once you've finished installing, ensure Start the desktop client. is checked and click Finish to proceed to the Scan App.
If, after following the instructions listed above, the scan client is not recognized, your machine's host file may need to be updated with the following:
127.0.0.1 klsecure.com
127.0.0.1 klsecure2.com
